The Financial Conduct Authority is updating its file storage from Live Link to SharePoint and required a training company to plan, create, and implement a SharePoint training programme for all staff working for the FCA and PSR. The project is called Document Management Transformation (DMT).
The contract initially called for overview sessions explaining the features and functions of the SharePoint system to members of the DMT project team to enable them to plan their file structures and user interface.
Once the system was ready for initial roll-out of version 1.0 we returned to create a complete training programme for all staff which included live sessions, virtual sessions, recorded videos and support guides and materials.
Our involvement began in July 2019 with initial sessions running in August and September of 2019.
We then returned in February and March 2020 to begin the wider roll-out to more users.
Due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic, there was a short pause in delivery until May 2020 when virtual sessions commenced, and these have been ongoing since then.
The project was completed by November 2021 but we continued to provide ongoing training and support until May 2023
This has been a long running project with different, distinct phases and challenges. At the start, the FCA did not have a SharePoint environment to use so we set up a test area which we gave access to their staff to have some experience of what SharePoint was like. We have then transitioned to using the FCA test area which they have given us access to and using their hardware.
We are very happy with our involvement in this project and feel we have delivered on all the tasks we have been set. We have a good working relationship with the project team which has developed over the 18 months of the project. There are not really any areas I feel we could have improved on in this regard.
